The search is on for this year’s Entrepreneur Of The Year Philippines

SGV Foundation (SGVF) launched the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Philippines (EOYP) 2011 with a press conference held last 1 March at Restaurant 9501 in the ABS-CBN compound. The launch was later featured on the ABS-CBN News Channel cable television show On The Scene.

Program Director Tonette Tionko officially announced the call for nominations and welcomed 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines and Master Entrepreneur Tennyson Chen, 2010 Woman Entrepreneur Esther Vibal, and finalists Mark Ruiz and Teodoro Ferrer, who came to lend their support.

During the press conference, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed among the co-presenters, namely: De La Salle University, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Development Bank of the Philippines, the Philippine Business for Social Progress, the Philippine Stock Exchange and the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.

In the course of 7 months, SGVF will be running the program from the nomination period to the awarding of winners in October. There will be five categories for this year: Master Entrepreneur, Small Business Entrepreneur, Social Entrepreneur, Tourism Entrepreneur and Woman Entrepreneur. From among these category winners will emerge the EOYP 2011, who will represent the country in the 2012 World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Monte Carlo, Monaco in June 2012.

This year’s theme is Shine. SGV Foundation Chairman and President Vic Noel says, “To be an entrepreneur is to be a beacon, a shining ray of hope and inspiration. To blaze the trail, that others may follow in their footsteps. This year we salute the courage, spirit and determination of our Filipino entrepreneurs. Their works, stories and convictions show us all what it means to truly shine.”
