GK Village 88 has come full circle

The last batch of homes were recently awarded to the beneficiaries of GK Village 88 in Camarin, Caloocan City. SGV Founder Wash SyCip, Chairman and Managing Partner Vic Noel, Deputy Managing Partner Itos Cruz and GK Project Director Bro. Reynaldo Munda led the program. Also present were Ligaya Antigua from the National Housing Authority as well as partners and staff who had participated in the house-building activities over the last year. Mr. SyCip led the ribbon-cutting ceremony and he was greeted with all smiles and a few teary eyes as he presented the symbolic key to the new homes.

“Makakaasa kayo na ang SGV, sa ngalan ng aming tagapagtatag, ay patuloy na tutulong sa abot ng aming makakaya para panatiliin ang pag-unlad ng komunidad na ito,”said Vic as he spoke on behalf of the SGV family, particularly sharing the enthusiasm of partners and staff who participated in the construction.

In response, Kapitbayahan Staging 3 president Roger Mancio thanked SGV, the Gawad Kalinga team, the National Housing Association and other partners who continue to support the community. He added, “Dalangin po namin na ang pagbabago sa aming mga bahay ay magsimula rin ng pagbabago sa aming mga buhay.”

“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa Village 88,” said Kapitbahayan Staging 2 president Gerry Diomaboc in his acceptance speech. “Nagpapasalamat ang Kapitbahayan sa binigay ninyong pagkakataon na matupad ang pangarap naming mga mahirap. Sa tulong ninyo, nagkaroon kami ng sariling tahanan.”

The GK Village was a gift of SGV and its Partners to W. SyCip on the occasion of his 88th birthday in 2009. The SGV Foundation managed the project.
